The U.S. Government has implemented a program designed to assist homeowners across the nation to avoid foreclosure proceedings.  It is called the Making Homes Affordable – Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternatives Program. 

The general premise of this program is that it will assist clients that do not qualify for any modification programs – Government or Lender specific - to be able to avoid the nasty effects of foreclosure. It is also designed to assist clients that do qualify for Government or Lender specific modifications but cannot afford the terms of the new modification.  It also has programs available to cover relocation costs associated with needing to move from the home.
